Procedural Justice Webinar

Description:How officers respond to situations impacts the community’s perception of the agency overall and affects the level of trust. In order for the community to view law enforcement agencies and their personnel as legitimate, the tenants of procedural justice must be a part of their organizational culture. Organizational transformation of this type is a key component of community policing.

Procedural justice provides a framework for organizational transformation within law enforcement agencies. By promoting the idea of fairness and transparency in resolving disputes, making decisions and allocating resources, procedural justice guides the development of sustainable organizational practices and procedures

Charelen Moe is the Senior Program Specialist for the Center for Public Safety and Justice, Institute on Government and Public Affairs, at the University of Illinois at Champaign where she designs nationally relevant instructor-led and web-based curricula. Ms. Moe has thirty-one years of experience in public service, teaching, non-profit management and consulting with law enforcement.
