Training Course: Education-Based Discipline Program – Alternative to Employee Discipline

Course Description: The Education-Based Discipline (EBD) program is a progressive disciplinary program that ensures employee accountability and development of a tailored remedial plan designed to lessen the likelihood of recurring offenses. EBD provides an option for employees to voluntarily participate in an individualized remedial plan that emphasizes education, training, and other creative interventions which promote a successful outcome. The education and training program focuses on problem-solving and self-management; skill enhancement; boundary recognition; substance misuse/abuse awareness; character reinforcement; and mitigating and aggravating factors. The employee’s changed behavior will advance community policing, agency effectiveness, and employee morale. The training and technical assistance provided by the Regional Community Policing Institute- CA will include EBD informational briefings, an Informational Video, as well as Train-the-Trainer classes for two ethics classes offered to EBD participants.

Training Course:Procedural Justice for Law Enforcement Agencies: Organizational Change through the Integration of Procedural Justice Core Principles into Decision Making and Policies.

Course Description: The procedural justice curriculum will expand emphasis on procedural justice and its core principles throughout law enforcement, focusing on respect, legitimacy, and the concept of fairness ultimately demonstrated in interactions between law enforcement and the community. The purpose of the curriculum is to create a broader awareness of procedural justice and its core principles; provide practical steps to integrate procedural justice at the organizational level by training law enforcement executives on how to incorporate procedural justices core principles into organizational decision-making and policies; and to help agencies create an environment where procedural justices core principles become standard practice. The curriculum will guide users on implementation considerations and strategies, raising their awareness and aiding them in becoming more effective in fostering an environment where procedural justice core principles become a standard practice within law enforcement and policing.
