Trainer Materials The course instructions, which are separate from the 14 content modules, will provide trainers with an opportunity to review the training material and course schedule. Lessons to Learn requires participants to think back to the initial tabletop exercise, identify any aspects related to this module, and use the work planner to guide their continued research and learning. A Personal Action Plan asks participants to think about what aspects of the training could be incorporated into their planning role. The template also allows participants to itemize steps, actions, or contacts they will use in their jurisdiction to enhance their planning efforts. Tabletop exercises will demonstrate to participants the need for integrated planning before an event. The facilitator will refer back to the exercise during each module to emphasize particular teaching points. During the last 5 minutes of each module, the instructor will direct the class to an exercise and have the participants identify how they might implement or change the planning processes identified in Module 1. Appendix: Integrating Major Special Event Planning with the National Response Plan and National Incident Management System Students participating in “Planning and Managing Security for Major Special Events: Guidelines for Law Enforcement” should already be familiar with the National Response Plan (NRP) and National Incident Management System (NIMS). This document summarizes the NRP and NIMS, discusses their relation to special event planning, and examines the use of the Incident Command System (ICS) in special event planning. |
