Reflecting new energy and priorities coming from the White House, the Department of Justice, and COPS Director Bernard Melekian, the COPS Office has started work on thoroughly revamping the COPS web site.

Expected to launch this summer, the new web site will feature a brighter, more engaging look and feel that will attract and hold the attention of visitors. The site will also include an improved navigation structure to make it easier to find information such as deadlines for grant applications, publications on community policing, and contact information for COPS personnel.

The intended result is a web site with a more intuitive architecture, in which visitors will be able to find information they’re looking much faster, with fewer click-throughs. The entire site is also being carefully reviewed and edited to ensure that information is up to date and links are live and lead to useful web pages. The COPS web development team is working with COPS employees to make sure that the revised web site will be accurate, current, easy to use, and comprehensive.

Dispatch readers who would like to offer suggestions on ways to improve the COPS web site are encouraged to e-mail TellCOPS (tellCOPS@usdoj.gov ) with their ideas.
