Coming Soon From The COPS Office
It is the start of a new year and 2009 looks to be a good one for people seeking to expand their library of COPS Office products and resources. Throughout the year you can find out about all the latest releases here in the Dispatch and through the COPS Office web site. Some publications you might want to keep an eye out for this year include these:
-A Second Edition of Law Enforcement Intelligence: A Guide for State, Local, and Tribal Law Enforcement Agencies. This popular 2004 publication has been substantially revised and updated by author David Carter. View the first edition now here.
-The Community Policing Self Assessment Tool and user guides.
-The Stop Snitching Phenomenon: Strategies for Law Enforcement to End the Code of Silence on the Streets. Prepared by the Police Executive Research Forum, this publication addresses the factors that have led to the Stop Snitching movement, what makes the message “stick,” and what can be done to take back the communities affected by it.
-An evaluation report on the Creating a Culture of Integrity Program.
And a number of additions to the family of POP Guides, including guides focusing on improving street lighting to reduce crime in residential neighborhoods, assigning police officers to schools, the theft of scrap and precious metals, and asset forfeiture.
