Identity Theft and the Drug Connection
The Florida Regional Community Policing Institute (RCPI) has developed a course that assists agencies in understanding identity theft and its link to drug trafficking. The 4- or 8-hour course was developed in conjunction with the Tampa area Multijurisdictional Counterdrug Task Force. This course will not only help you to understand identity theft and the impact on the individual victim, the community, and law enforcement but also realize its role in drug trafficking and how to better work these cases. For more information visit the Florida RCPI’s web site at http://cop.spcollege.edu/cop.

The course provides general information about identity theft, including the most common methods of identity theft, ways of protecting oneself against identity theft, ways of recovering from an identity theft, as well as some legal information about the crime of identity theft. All nine modules include course material and sample test material related to each. This course can be accessed at www.orcpi.com.
