Acquaintance Rape of College Students
Rape is one of the most common violent crimes on American college campuses
today. This guide describes the problem of acquaintance rape of college
students, addressing its scope, causes, and contributing factors; methods for
analyzing it on a particular campus; tested responses; and measures for
assessing response effectiveness. With this information, police and campus
public safety officers can more effectively prevent the problem.
Addressing School-Related Crime and
Disorder
Under the COPS funded School-Based Partnerships grant program, law enforcement
agencies partnered with schools to address local crime and disorder problems.
Grantees utilized problem-solving techniques to better understand the causes of
identified problems, apply analysis-driven responses, and evaluate their
efforts.
Bomb Threats in Schools
This guide addresses the problem of bomb threats in schools, public or private,
kindergarten through 12th grade. The guide reviews the factors that increase the
risk of bomb threats in schools and then identifies a series of questions that
might assist law enforcement in analyzing their local problem. Finally, the
guide reviews responses to the problem and what is known about these from
evaluative research and police practice.
Campus Safety CD-ROM
This CD-ROM contains more than 50 publications and resource links related to
drugs, alcohol, and violence on campus. It also contains a video, Because Things
Happen Every Day: Responding to Teenage Victims of Crime, produced by the
National Center from Victims of Crime and sponsored by the COPS Office.
Illicit Sexual Activity in Public
Places
There are widely different perspectives on public sexual activity. Some do not
believe the behavior constitutes a public safety threat; some view the behavior
as a "victimless crime" involving two consenting partners; and some
see the behavior as a threat to the community's "moral decency." This
guide is intended to inform law enforcement about the effectiveness and
consequences of various approaches to controlling public sexual activity.

Respond to Stalking
This discussion guide and the companion 20-minute video are excellent training
and educational tools for all levels of law enforcement, victim service
providers, and community stakeholders seeking to develop multidisciplinary,
collaborative responses to the serious problem of stalking. The video, which

conjunction with training that focuses on community policing, victim safety, and

National Summit on Campus Public
Safety
This report is the result of a COPS-sponsored project led by the Mid-Atlantic
Regional Community Policing Institute to take an in-depth look at current
activities and future needs in the field of campus safety. By identifying

rave culture also entails the use of a range of licit and illicit drugs. This

grounds and buildings or furnishings and equipment. This guide describes the
